Operation on track for Long mine life

The Long nickel mine at Kambalda is showing all the signs of continuing for at least the next 10 years, and doubling its current mine life. The operation, purchased from WMC Ltd last year by Independence Gold NL for 15 million dollars, mines about 150,000 tonnes per annum of material grading 3.6 percent nickel for the recovery of 4,968t of the metal. The company had forecast the mine to generate 60 million dollars in 60 months, or 1 million dollars a month in free cash. However, if the nickel price average of 14,400 dollars continued, this figure could rise to 72 million dollars. All the ore is transported to WMC's Kambalda nickel smelter for treatment.
