Hudson Institute of Mineralogy Adopts Two Local Schools

The Hudson Institute of Mineralogy recently announced a cooperative effort with two New York State public schools, donating substantial mineral collections to each for use in earth science education. In both cases, a local science teacher with a strong appreciation for minerals and mineral collecting was instrumental in bringing the specimen donations to their respective institutions. In the first instance, the C.J. Hooker Middle School, part of the Goshen Central School District in Orange County, New York, received a display quality collection of minerals and fossils from the Institute. Science teacher Michael Lamonica, a former assistant at Excalibur Mineral Corporation, spearheaded the effort to bring mineral specimens not only into the classroom, but also to add an attractive display of larger specimens for the entire student body to enjoy.
