摘要

During my recent visit to the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum in Houghton, Michigan earlier this month, I learned that some collectors have suggested that the museum was "too far out of the way" to be an important repository for the many world-class specimens it houses. Dr. George Robinson, Professor of Mineralogy at Michigan Technical University and Curator of the Seaman Museum, has a pithy answer for these self-proclaimed critics: after Washington, New York, Houston, Los Angeles and all the other major cities have succumbed to some nuclear holocaust of the future, Houghton, like the superb mineral collection shepherded there, will still be standing, untouched and intact.
