New Locality for Talc Pseudomorphs after Phlogopite, Bullock Flats, Town of Russell, St. Lawrence County, New York

In late 2012, a new mineral locality was discovered by Donald M. Carlin, Jr., in a pasture on the Bullock farm just north of an area locally known as Bullock Flats. The pasture is just west of St. Lawrence County Rt. 24, south of its intersection with County Rt. 21. A barn sits at the north end of the pasture. Various low outcrops scattered over the pasture expose calcite-filled veins of silicates. The approximate center of the mineralized area is at GPS coordinates (44°21'35"N, 75°12'33"W). The discovery resulted from Carlin's examination of a low road cut along County Rt. 24 that contained gemmy phlogopite in calcite.
