Searching for an Unknown Mineral's Identity From the Dallas Gem Mine, San Benito Co., California

The Dallas Gem Mine (aka Benitoite Gem Mine, California State Gem Mine) has produced the finest specimens of benitoite in the world, and it is the type locality for that mineral as well as five other species. Excellent specimens of neptunite, joaquinite-(Ce), jonesite and other minerals have been preserved, and the locality has been well documented in both type descriptions and analytical studies in the professional literature, as well as in the popular hobby magazines such as Mineralogical Record (1977: Vol. 8, pgs. 442-452).
