At dusk, we returned to the hotel, still feeling the stress of the previous day's ordeal. We had received a bit of bad news; my projected day for leaving for the Braldu had been Thursday, but that was the birthday of the founder of the Shia religion and a renowned religious scholar was coming to Skardu, and everyone was waiting to hear him speak. I wobbled out for a second short run of the day, headlamp on my head, slowed by the 7500' elevation and dysentery, but nonetheless, I vowed to myself to complete a long run in the morning.
