It's been a decade since Bentley departed the motorsport scene, going out on a high note with a dominant 2003 win at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans. Yet, a return to competitive racing has eventually proven to be too difficult to resist. Bentley debuted its new Continental GT3 race car at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed, showcasing a machine that explores the race potential of Bentley's iconic Grand Tourer, the Continental GT. First glimpses of Bentley's GT3 Concept Racer came at the Paris Auto Salon in September 2012. Building on a racing heritage spanning ninety years, the new Continental GT3 has been created to exploit the performance beneath the skin of every Continental GT. Bentley has removed over 1000kg of weight, reconfigured the 4.0-litre V8 to produce 600 bhp in race specification and developed a comprehensive aero package. Now all that's needed is to get the car on the track and prove its potential.
