It's always worthwhile taking time to review the tools and equipment you are using in your workshop. Andrew Livesey provides a checklist to help start the task. After clearing out the old family house, where I had found an old box of my father's tools, I drove round to see a colleague who has just opened a small repair business in a modern trading estate. My mind suddenly flashed back as I compared the new facility with our old garage. We tend, in the motor industry, to do things in a way which we are comfortable with, in other words, as we have always done them. There is an old adage: 'Do what you always did and you'll get what you always got. The problem is that if you keep doing this you finish up with no customers, as they will have stopped needing what you were doing.
