We note their results over an extended period of time utilising the Abdomino-Sacral Amputation of the Rectum (ASAR) as described in their letter. We agree with the contributors that review of outcomes from historical and current practice is vital in the ongoing attempt to improve clinical care. Indeed, this is the main reason why we sought to undertake our recent study.
