MIM reports on an initiative by training provider Remit to take apprentices to the northern slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. How many apprentices does it take to change a tyre in a safari park? Just two as it turned out for Remit's automotive learners when they headed out to Tanzania this April with the automotive training provider. Nottingham's David Price and Ryan Olone of Middlesbrough were both winners at Remit's national apprenticeship awards in December last year. After being presented with their awards by Gold medalist Paralympian, Richard Whitehead, they were told about their prize - the opportunity to go on a trip of a lifetime to Mount Kilimanjaro. Remit, which works with more than 6,000 apprentices across the UK, has been supporting the Village Education Project Kilimanjaro (VEPK) for the past two years. The charity works with children and young people growing up in rural poverty on the northern slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, providing them with an education and vocational training opportunities.
