The industry seems in agreement over the need for better ways to track write-offs and ensure that if they make it back on the road they have been properly repaired and documented, as Heather Grant reports. Around 500,000 vehicles are written off each year. Many of these accident-damaged vehicles are repaired without regard to proper methods and put back on the road in a dangerous condition. Surprisingly, no checks are required on what happens to the salvage after being sold or the quality of repair.
