New truck registrations began to pick up in the last quarter of 2010, slowing the decline of the past year. Demand for trucks over 16-tonnes gross vehicle weight rallied in the final three months of the year, with registrations closing five per cent up on 2009 at 20,556. The total number of registrations for commercial vehicles over 3.5-tonnes GVW was down 0,8 per cent on 2009 at 34,458 and it was articulated tractor units that were responsible for the upturn.
