Reply to: Lack of prognostic significance of conventional peritoneal cytology in colorectal and gastric cancers: Results of EVOCAPE 2 multicentre prospective study

Dear Sir We read with interest the paper by Cotte et al. Their two stage multicentre study enrolling a total of 956 patients to long term follow up found no prognostic significance of positive peritoneal cytology in colorectal or gastric cancers. Whilst positive cytology was significantly associated with a reduction in overall survival, its significance was lost on mulitvariate analysis with other prognostic factors.
