摘要

I read with interest the work of D'Agostino 1. The rationale for contralateral prophylactic mastectomy (CPM) in a patient with breast cancer is to reduce the risk of contralateral breast cancer (CBC) and improve survival and quality of life. Other reasons include ease of follow-up, reduction of anxiety, and desire for symmetry that can be achieved with bilateral mastectomies and reconstruction. Regarding the risk of CBC, patients with a sporadic tumor have a low risk of developing a CBC (0.5 to 1.0 per cent/ year) 2. Conversely, the risk of CBC is very high in patients with breast cancer and BRCA mutation (10 to 25 per cent/5 years) 3.
