Alumni in Southeast Asia Host McBride Honor Students

Mines alumni working and living in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia arranged tours, hosted receptions and shared their homes with 17 CSM students who toured the region as part of their summer practicum in the McBride Honors Program. The McBride Honors Program provides a select group of students the opportunity to explore the relationships between their areas of technical expertise and the humanities and social sciences throughout their four years at Mines. As part of their 27-semester hour program, students must take a junior-year summer practicum that includes foreign study as an option. An international group tour is organized each summer. The 30-day Southeast Asia tour this year included visits to Singapore; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Medan, Jakarta, Bandung, and Bali, Indonesia; and an optional trip to Hong Kong. The trip included both educational tours as well as some of the sightseeing wonders of the regions.
