Outokumpu Technology consolidates its position as leading partner in the metallurgical industry

09. Aug 2002-Outokumpu Technology has completed the transformation defined in its strategy in order to meet the changed market requirements through acquisitions and structural changes. Outokumpu Technology has consolidated its position as a leading technology partner in the metallurgical industry by several major acquisitions like Lurgi Metallurgie, KHD Aluminium Technology and Eberhard Hoesch & Sohne in Germany, Lurgi Australia, Royal Pannevis in the Netherlands and Nordberg Mills in Norway. As a result of these acquisitions Outokumpu has nearly doubled its Technology business in a short time and the integration of the acquired businesses is proceeding in schedule. At the same time Outokumpu Technology has renewed its structure. The regional sales companies have been reorganized to strengthen the customer relations. Target is to become a long-term strategic partner to the customers and take the total responsibility of the projects. The operations have been grouped into three units, namely Mineral Processing, Metal Processing and Services. Pekka Heikkonen is the President of Outokumpu Technology. Neil Jagger has been appointed President of Mineral Processing, Peter Weber has been appointed President of Metal Processing, and the President of Services will be appointed shortly. Additionally, Jean-Guy Coulombe has been appointed Vice President for Marketing and Sales. The strategic direction of the transformation and strong internationalization can also be seen from the constitution of the Management Team. Outokumpu Technology has operations in 16 countries and the globalisation goes firmly on.
