Dragon's growth starts at home

WHILE CHINA'S STEEL demand is not expected to increase during 2009, Chinese consumption of the carbon metal looks set to rise by some 2 percent over the same period. Furthermore, the recovery of the Dragon's appetite for steel would most likely rely more on the real estate market than on any government stimulus measures. In addition, Chinese producers of the metal still had more than enough capacity, suggesting its price would remain under downward pressure regardless of how demand changed.
