Call for Improved supply security as China continues its export quota policy

Proponents in the global rare earths elements (REE) sector are facing a bright future as the prices for their products continue to rise on the back of strengthening global demand for advanced environmental, defence and hi tech equipment. Although the industry fell into a bit of a slump during 2008, last year saw it rebound post the global financial crisis. Due to the world-wide economic slowdown, many companies experienced inventory destocking as customers used existing stocks to reserve cash. This in turn caused raw materials to slip significantly at the upstream end of the supply chain.
