Metallica Minerals Ltd is progressing with the evaluation of the application of heap leach processing on its North Queensland nickel cobalt project (NORNICO) to enable it to become a significant producer of nickel and cobalt concentrate. The company plans to extract nickel-cobalt from its NORNICO laterite deposits (starting with the Bell Creek project) via the low capital cost atmospheric heap leaching process to produce a nickel-cobalt hydroxide concentrate sulphide for sale to nickel refineries. Subject to extensive heap leach test work and feasibility studies, it is the company's objective to start within three years.
