Finding and exploiting a massive copper resource in South Central Africa is a challenge that Equinox Minerals Ltd is managing comfortably, with 18 months of production already under its belt at its 342.5 million tonne Lumwana project in Zambia. Despite being at the beginning of its development cycle, Lumwana is clocking up some impressive statistics. For instance, it is now one of the world's top 20 copper producers and the biggest mine in a generation in the southern African nation, which has a strong history of production.
