Flexible approach adopted

One brokerage has welcomed plans by obase metals producer Perilya Ltd to alter its milling strategy at the historic Broken Hill operation in western New South Wales. The company is looking to alter the production profile of the project by reducing the output at its southern operations from the current 2.2-2,3 million tonnes per annum to 1.7 Mtpa, replacing the shortfall with some higher grade material from the northern underground mine and the yet-to-be-developed Potosi deposit. Perilya's managing director Tim Clifton said this would provide greater flexibility at the site.
