ALTHOUGH MINCOR RESOURCES NL's mature Mitel mine at Kambalda in Western Australia has been one of the casualties of the low nickel price, the company remains in a powerful position to ride out the current market storm when compared to many of its competitors. As Australia's third largest producer of the base metal, the group elected to shut down Miitel at the end of last year in a bid to cut expenses. However, it also stressed there were no plans to close any of its other sites.
