Another rift that is forming which involves Australia's minerals sector concerns the Federal Labor Government's plans to introduce the much mooted Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS), which again has come under fire from one of the country's top value adders. As reported in the September issue of Gold&Minerals Gazette, BlueScope Steel Ltd's chief executive Paul O'Malley made it clear that, as far as his company was concerned, the CPRS was going to have a deleterious effect on the competitiveness of emissions intensive trade-exposed industries regardless of any political gestures purporting that it wouldn't.
