HAVING EMERGED AS a significant copper-gold producer in South East Asia last year, Brisbane-based PanAust Ltd continues to consolidate its presence in the region. The close of 2009 will mark the first full year of production for the company's Phu Kham copper-gold operation in Laos, while feasibility work at the Puthep copper play in Thailand will be substantially complete. In addition, the outcome of a feasibility study at the Ban Houayxai silver-gold deposit (also in Laos) is expected during early 2010. However, it is Guangdong Rising Assets Management's (GRAM) 19.9 percent cornerstone investment that will be the driving force behind PanAust and its focus on Asia for the next few years.
