PPIs preferred for OHS evaluation

SAFETY IN THE drilling industry is sure to come under the spotlight at this year's MDAA Symposium. At the last conference, Greg Stagbouer, occupational health and safety (OHS) manager at Grimwood Davies, touched on positive performance indicators (PPIs) and their application in the industry. He said it was important companies work out where there were potential weaknesses or opportunities for improvement and identify a number of PPIs to address them. "By adopting both outcome measures - for example, lost time injury and/or accident injury frequency rates - and PPIs of occupational health and safety performance, an organisation will be provided with a more comprehensive view of its occupational health and safety performance," Stagbouer told delegates.
