AN EXPLORATION PLAY in Australia that might be worth watching over the next few years is Ivanhoe Mines Ltd's Cloncurry project in Queensland, where the company is chasing giant iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) as well as uranium deposits. After advancing the mighty Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold porphyry orebody in southern Mongolia and subsequently putting development of the project in the hands of the publicly listed Rio Tinto during the second half of lastyear, Ivanhoe and its idiosyncratic founder and chairman Robert Friedland turned some of their collective attention to Down Under as they searched for another world class gorilla.
