Value added to milling circuit

Adding a coagulant to the flocculent during the combined leached pulp stage has allowed one Canadian junior to expand the flow sheet for its flagship project in Indonesia. For the past 10 years Weda Bay Minerals Incorporated has focused much of its corporate attention on developing what it believes is a world-class nickel and cobalt play on the Indonesian island of Halmahera. Ultimately the company is looking to process two million tonnes of both saprolite and limonite per annum, producing 53,000 tonnes of nickel and 3,900t of cobalt in a mixed sulphide product. It is expected a bankable feasibility study (BFS) for the project will be completed by the end of next year. Weda Bay currently has total measured and indicated resources of 182 million tonnes at 1.35 nickel and 0.11 percent cobalt (using a cut-off grade of 1 percent nickel and 0.1 percent cobalt) and an inferred resource of 159 Mt at 1.37 percent nickel and 0.11 percent cobalt (at a 1 percent nickel and 0.1 percent cobalt cut-off).
