Court finds native title resumes after mining ends

Governments in Western Australia have a history of spending vast sums of money on native title litigation only to come off second best each time. Back in 1995 it was Liberal Premier Richard Court who was obsessed with the then-new native title laws, and he led his government to the High Court to try and defeat the Keating government over its native title regime. Not surprisingly, Western Australia lost the case.
