Transparency adds new dimension

In an attempt to increase energy efficiencies in the comminution circuit, one leading minerals research group has been looking at the effectiveness of using x-ray tomography and a single impact load cell to help determine the causes of particle weakening and discover where breakage of the material actually occurs when using multiple impacts. Traditionally used in the medical sector, tomography is a technique which shows a single plain (or slice) of the object under examination. These slices can then be combined to provide a solid, but transparent, view of the object being studied.
