The Philippines Government is expecting to complete a study into the downstream processing of its mineral -wealth in the not to distant future. Speaking to a group of Australian journalists during the last day of the conference, presidential advisor on minerals development in the south east Asian nation--Ambassador Delia Albert--said one of the first tasks she embraced after taking on her current position was to look at how the country should tackle the issue of value adding to its minerals. "One should recall that under the (Ferdinand) Marcos Government there was already an industrial policy--it was one of the industries that was identified for progressive value adding," she explained.
