Mineralised tenor increased

Publicly-listed Patagonia Gold has started on the environmental approval process for its Rio Negro holdings in southern Argentina. During late April the company indicated one of its priorities was to get a 2,000 metre scout target drill program in the Rio Negro province under way. Patagonia - which also owns exploration interests in Chile - has (under licence, application or option) 79 properties in Argentina covering 3,380 square kilometres. They are distributed across the Rio Negro, Chubut and Santa Cruz provinces. Recent work in Rio Negro has concentrated on the Cerro El Morro prospect, where exploration has identified additional veining. Patagonia said sampling had increased the tenor of the mineralisation, with a sample from the last program returning 24.6 grams/tonne gold and 233 g/t silver. A recently completed geophysics survey (combined magnetic, IP and chargeability) over the vein field enabled better definition of the structures which in places have no surface expression. One of these structures - now traceable for over a kilometre - contains values in its south east of 3.7 g/t gold and 269 g/t silver, increasing to 24.6 g/t gold and 233 g/t silver in the north west. The geophysics also indicates it is considerably wider in the north west.
