IF ALL GOES to plan, a mining project in the Democratic Republic of Congo could account for almost half the world's cobalt production by the end of the decade. Some 40,000 tonnes per annum of the base metal - along with 400,000t of copper - is expected to be sourced from the KOV project near the town of Kolwezi in the DRC's Katanga Province.
