AS THE FINAL stage of its wholly-owned WMm Creek copper oxide mine comes on line, Straits Resources Ltd is continuing to expand its new sulphide resource project. The Mons Cupri West oxide pit is now being mined and, with resources of 3,300 tonnes of contained copper, this deposit -combined with stockpiled ore - is expected to feed the SX-EW plant for about another 18 months. During this time the company will continue to explore and define a new trend of copper sulphide and zinc ore bodies identified within the Salt Creek project area. The Whim Creek mine and Salt Creek are located between Karratha and Port Hedland in Western Australia.
