WHILE THE COMPANY admittedly experienced some ramp-up issues at its relatively new Langer Heinrich uranium project in the southern African nation of Namibia, the fact Paladin Energy Ltd eventually reached its first stage nameplate target by December 2007 should be recognised as a significant achievement for the global nuclear sector. Located 80 kilometres east of Walvis Bay, the Langer Heinrich mine was the first conventional uranium mining and processing operation to be brought into production for over a decade - no mean feat given the negative public sentiment for the controversial mineral.
