SPECIALIST MACHINING EXPERTISE from Furmanite enabled vital work on a massive dragline at an open cut coal mine in Queensland to be carried out on site within a minimised time window, as part of a major dragline upgrade project. The project, undertaken at the BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA)-operated Blackwater mine in the Bowen Basin by field maintenance alliance partner Transfield Services, involved upgrade work to the drive and hoist motors and gearboxes on a Bucyrus 2570 walking dragline to optimise the dragline efficiency.
