Expansion plans cater for cyclic inevitability

Monadelphous Group Ltd is not only utilising the current resources development boom as a platform for further growth in its core business, but is using it as a stepping stone to diversify into other sectors in the eastern states. Monadelphous managing director Rob Velletri is only too aware that any resources boom is sooner or later followed by a downturn. And what better time is there than now in the current resources cycle to look at diversification into other areas? The group has already established a maintenance and industrial services business in the eastern states, but is looking to expand outside of resources into other sectors over the next two or three years. That is not to say Monadelphous will be turning its back on the resources sector. In fact it has a growth plan in its core markets (services to resources) driven by demand from China.
