Dynatec Corporation's bid to establish a nickel laterite project in Madagascar has been endorsed by none other than the Word Wildlife Fund. During the close of his presentation, Bill Vardill from Dynatec's metallurgical echnologies division highlighted the fact a iccent BBC world service program had "unannounced to us" included a positive comment from the fund vis-a-vis the island's slashed and burnt agriculture. This was, Vardill told ALTA 2005 delegates, "vtdence the company was working closely with environmental groups. The referred-to quote attributed to the bind read: "Perhaps mining can bring more good than harm. It will do harm -- mat's inevitable, but that's maybe something that can live with, and use the benefit to reduce ongoing loss of forest through other means elsewhere in the country."
