The New Zealand Government's Energy and Resources Minister Phil Heatley felt more heat in Rotorua than the geothermal springs through preceding presentations and then a dinner with mining executives and in question time with his speech the following day. The heads of New Zealand's two large gold miners made it clear at the conference that the Government needs to be careful how it handles a planned royalty review, particularly if there is no reduction in bureaucratic green tape.
