摘要

Lynas Corporation Ltd's chief executive Nick Curtis has an ambitious plan - to take on the Chinese in the global rare earths market. And if anyone has the credentials to do this it is Curtis. As chairman of Sydney-based mining house Sino Gold Ltd he was one of the key driving forces behind the establishment of the first (and still the only) foreign-owned gold mine in China. Three years ago Curtis expanded his mining interests when he took over the then WA-based Lynas which, at the time, was co-owner of the Mt Olympus gold project near the West Australian Pilbara town of Paraburdoo. However it wasn't the lure of the precious metal that attracted Curtis to the junior mining house.
