Earthmoving contractor Phillip Chisholm and local manufacturer of carry grade earthmoving equipment, Colin O'Bryan of Murray Valley Lasers, have a wealth of experience in land forming machines for mineral sand mining land rehabilitation, flood irrigation and civil earthworks. In recent years Chisholm has undertaken significant topsoil removal for BeMaX Resources NL at the Wemen mine site. He has also developed the ideal machine combination as well as an efficient, cost effective means of rehabilitating the mine site, enabling the land form to be returned as close as possible to its original profile (principally for resumption of farming operations after the mining operation has been completed). When Iluka Resources Ltd wanted to complete a test pit for its proposed new mineral sand mining operation at the Kulwyn site between Ouyen and Managatang, Chisholm recognised that the job presented new challenges. So, in collaboration with Colin O'Bryan, a new O'Bryan Carry Grade Scraper was designed, built and commissioned for the Kulwyn project.
