It wouldn't be too surprising if Hillgrove Resources Ltd's boss David Archer was feeling a slight hint of deja vu in relation to his latest Australian minerals ventures. As the managing director of the just-listed Savage Resources Ltd back in 1987, Archer saw the October stock market crash as a plus rather than a burden, the junior using the opportunity to take-on some unloved coal assets and turning them into cash cows. While history isn't exactly repeating itself in mid-2005, there are some interesting parallels between the new-look Hillgrove and Savage, which was eventually swallowed-up by fallen mining house Pasminco Ltd back during 1999. Like Savage, Hillgrove has targeted a mine as its first hard rock production project off the rank, this time the target being the dormant Kanmantoo copper operation just outside of Adelaide in South Australia.
