During 2003/04 the total value of production of Queensland's minerals, including coal and petroleum, was more than 12 billion dollars The year also saw 135 million tonnes of coal worth 7.24 billion dollars exported. Queensland's domination of the global export coking coal market continues to increase, with international demand for the state's environmentally friendly thermal coals steadily growing in recent years.
