The resource-rich countries of the South-East Asian Pacific Rim present myriad opportunities as well as challenges for mining and exploration companies operating within their jurisdictions.A super-abundance of an amazing array of minerals can often be balanced by an unstable government, limited infrastructure and ambiguous legislation.Indonesia, for example, has the world's fourth largest population, the largest economy in South East Asia and the world's largest reserves of minerals. It is the world's second largest producer of tin and nickel and the fourth largest copper producer. It also produces significant quantities of coal, gold, bauxite, phosphates and iron sand, and has the potential for alluvial diamonds.
