While there can be no denying Australia's mining sector is in some kind of boom, one question still remains: at what point of the cycle is it sitting? It still may be too hard to tell but, for one industry veteran at least, the possible short-term scenarios are all looking pretty good. Lion Selection Group Ltd's managing director Robin Widdup admits it's a hard call when trying to predict how the current upturn in commodity prices will ride out. There are, however, three potential tracks on which the bull markets could run. The first was the "this is as good as it gets" scenario, while the second resembled the "medium-type" cycles like those experienced during 1987 and 1997.
