One of 2003's most successful new floats, Siberia Mining Corporation Ltd (SMC), has wasted no time in positioning itself ready to adopt producer status at its Siberia and Lady Ida projects in Western Australia. Mining is due to start at Siberia following the award of an open-pit mining tender to BGC Contracting, and mobilisation of plant and equipment to the Siberia camp. The company sees itself enjoying a long period of success in the Goldfields. "We hold the largest Australian controlled ground in the Kalgoorlie region, and we have done that on the basis that we believe there remains a lot of major discoveries to be made," commercial development manager Johnathon Downes said.
