The now firmly entrenched gold miner Kingsgate Consolidated Ltd is developing on a new front in Thailand - targeting output from September at its Chatree North plant - and developing a new resource at Challenger in South Australia. In Thailand, Kingsgate is building on its solid production record at the Chatree gold mine, 280 kilometres north of Bangkok, with a new plant expected to raise throughput from 2.3 to 5 million tonnes per annum. Production is expected to grow to 200,000 ounces of gold per annum.
