For 10 years Body Active Consultancy (BAC) has implemented, facilitated and measured hundreds of customised workforce health management initiatives for a number of clients around Australia. One example is The Boss? program, which is now entering its fourth year. This continues to deliver the outcomes that prevent sprain and strain injuries amongst the staff who participate in the initiative. To put this into perspective, when the program started the total recordable incident rate was at 35. By October 2010 this number stood at 7.75, which represented a continued improvement across a company's entire operations involving in excess of 230 personnel. With similar results for many of the programs that BAC has implemented over the years, it is apparent that there are several factors identified as being critical for the success of these initiatives.
