The National Greenhouse and Energy-Reporting Act 2007 (NGER Act) is, in many ways, the first step to a more regulated mining industry. The NGER Act requires companies that are potentially large emitters of greenhouse gases or large consumers-producers of energy to measure and record emissions and energy consumed-produced from 1 July 2008.
