At the end of last year, Bendigo Mining Ltd's chairman Peter McCarthy was able to tell the company's shareholders that its namesake gold project in central Victoria had more or less reached a turning point in the modernised operation's sometimes troubled history. The resources house, he explained, had achieved record production of 36,927 million ounces from the Kangaroo Flat underground ore body, which is currently made up of five mineralised reefs and sits in the southern section of the historic Bendigo Goldfield.
