Positive restart at Smokey Hills for Platinum Australia

Perth-based precious metals miner Platinum Australia Ltd (ASX: PLA) reported in June that production continued to recover following the restart of mining earlier in the month at its Smokey Hills deposit located on the eastern limb of the Bushveld Complex in the Limpopo Province, 300 kilometres north of Johannesburg. The average stope tonnes broken per production day at the South African mine increased from 1,350 tpd in the first week of June, through to almost 1,850 tpd for the week ending June 17. In addition, total tonnes broken increased from 1,550 tpd to almost 1,950 tpd and total tonnes trammed to surface increased from 1,850 tpd to over 2,200 tpd.
